Advantages and disadvantages of veneered doors
Today, when such interior features as environmental friendliness and naturalness are already firmly in fashion, doors made of wood are the most popular. They are eco-friendly and reliable, fit into almost any interior and are very pleasant to use.
However, doors made of natural wood are difficult to produce and often hit the buyer's pocket (especially if the apartment or house is large and you need to install a lot of doors). Therefore, most often, instead of wooden doors, they buy veneered interior doors. Doors made of veneer have almost all the advantages of solid wood doors, but they are much cheaper.
Veneered doors come in two types: both natural (made entirely from natural materials) and artificial (with the addition of a plastic frame). Doors made of artificial materials may look no different from doors made entirely of natural materials, but they will last much less.
Making doors from natural veneer is a relatively expensive process, so these doors are slightly more expensive than plastic doors, but natural veneered doors are more reliable and environmentally friendly. The interior of these doors is made of relatively inexpensive wood (most often pine, but there may be other types of wood), and the top of the door is covered with a layer of veneer from expensive breeds (oak, beech, walnut, cherry, mahogany and others). The use of veneer made of natural materials makes it possible to produce doors of a wide variety of colors and textures. Veneer retains the pattern and color of natural wood, so interior veneered doors are able to meet the needs of even the most demanding customers.
Another advantage of veneered doors is that with minor mechanical damage, they are quite easy to repair.
As for the disadvantages, the veneered doors have only two of them:
1. Possible heterogeneity of the texture (although in most cases this can be avoided)
2. The tendency to fade in direct sunlight.
However, if you follow the rules of operation, interior doors made of veneer will last long enough, because veneered doors are quite reliable: the surface, made of solid wood and covered with a special composition, is very resistant to mechanical damage. At the same time, interior doors made of veneer are lighter than solid wood doors, so they are very convenient to use and transport.
