Glazed doors: types and recommendations
One of the most popular materials used today for finishing doors is glass. And, in general, not for nothing, because the door with glass inserts visually expands the room and makes it lighter.
Glazed interior doors can be of different shapes and sizes: they can occupy almost the entire area or represent several small windows. It all depends on what this door is designed for. Glass is installed on doors of various designs and performs different functions (depending on the purpose of the door itself). In this review article, we will focus on the decorative function of glass.
Many different types of glass and processing technologies are used for decoration. Here are two of the most common ones for example.
Facetted glass. This is glass, the edge of which is treated in a special way so that you can get a perfectly smooth and absolutely safe edge. Glass faceting makes it possible to create glass inserts of various shapes in this way: from classic rectangles to curved, curved silhouettes. Such inserts usually look very nice on the doors.
Crimson glass. This glass is processed by a special technology (the so-called "method of hot forming of glass") as a result of which the surface is glossy, shiny. Most often, malirovka is used for processing, tempering curved elements of stained glass windows.
And finally, a few general recommendations for the choice of glazed doors.
First, decide on the size and method of opening the door. This advice applies not only to the choice of glazed doors, but also to the choice of any other door.
Secondly, carefully inspect the selected design: is it really safe? This is a specific advice that applies specifically to glazed doors. Carefully check whether the inserts are firmly fixed and whether they will not fall out. After all, a fallen and broken glass insert can cause a lot of trouble.
Third, try to evaluate the glass from which the inserts are made, whether there are any bubbles or swellings.
The fourth tip applies to people who have children or relatives who like to slam their doors well. In this case, you should buy doors with either very strong glass, which is difficult to break, or with tempered glass (which, when broken, breaks up into many small, safe granules).
And finally, think about how well your chosen door will fit into the interior of the room.
