Laminated interior doors – how to care for
Laminated interior doors are doors in which the canvas is covered with a decorative film. In most cases, this coating is thin and resembles wood.
Installation of laminated doors made of natural wood is very popular now. However, their cost is much higher than that of plastic doors. To make the door look much more expensive, apply lamination of the surface. The film that is glued to the surface of the door has a decorative function, and usually it depicts an ornament of real wood. It is worth noting that the care of the laminate coating does not require much time.
In addition, the film prevents direct access of moisture to the door, which can guarantee its durability. If a wooden door can absorb moisture and deform over time, then a laminated door does not. The laminated door can be cleaned in case of urgent need with those cleaning substances that have coarse particles in their composition.
Since the modern market of building materials can offer a huge color palette, then, undoubtedly, even a true connoisseur of practical material will be able to choose the color to your taste.
Laminated interior doors: materials
With a paper base, the laminated material is the most inexpensive and short-lived. But if you use it in different places, and change it from time to time, then this is a great decoration option. The thickness of such a film is not more than 0.2 millimeters.
The material may also consist of a melamine film. A melamine resin impregnation is now added to the paper. The density is given by such a resin, and outwardly it does not bend, which is similar to a shiny eraser.
If you need the strength of the material and the size in the section is important, then you need to choose a two-color laminate. The laminated material of this production can guarantee reliability based on its thickness. It is at least half a millimeter.
The rarest and most expensive base is a fiberglass film. Its price consists of the cost of producing this material. In addition to the financial side, the production process of laminated glass fiber film is very specific.
One of the advantages of such a film is its versatility and variety of styles. That is, good laminated doors can contain an image of both wooden panels and non-ferrous metal. Any design will be easily complemented by a laminated door. In addition to plant directions, you can find an image under a stone or a canvas painted under silkscreen printing. In the modern markets of building materials, you can find a door made of laminated canvas, painted by hand. This solution is very original, but the cost will be significantly different from machine stamping.
Originality in laminated doors
In order for the interior door to be original, in the middle you can make a glass insert with the desired pattern. An interior door with such a glass insert is usually used to enter the children's room. This is due to the fact that parents have the opportunity to look after the child even if the door is in the closed position. However, it is worth remembering that the glass quickly accumulates dust, and you will have to take care of the door a little more often. In addition, due to the weight of the glass insert, the weight of the door can significantly increase.
Advantages of laminated interior doors:
Laminated doors are very common in children's institutions, so the synthetic resins contained in the composition are absolutely safe for others. They do not heat up and do not emit toxic gases and substances into the space.
Laminated doors are very unpretentious in care, however, it is worth observing a few simple rules during operation.
Care of laminated doors-recommendations
Do not expose laminated doors to excessive temperature and mechanical influences. That is, it is preferable to install such doors at some distance from direct heat sources. Laminate doors should be protected from impacts, so that their service life does not expire soon.
Cleaning doors made of this material will not require effort only if the cleaning is carried out regularly. To make the material shine, it must be treated with a special polish. Microcracks may appear over time, and in order to erase them, it is desirable to treat the material with a polish that includes wax.
The humidity of the room greatly affects the service life of laminated doors. If such a door is installed in the bathroom, then the wax polish treatment should be performed twice as often as in normal humidity conditions. In the latter case, the processing should be carried out at least twice a year.
Care of the laminated door will be much easier if you follow the regularity and do not use aggressive substances – alkalis and salts.
Let the new door become the door to a new, happy life for you!
